Keep Kids Entertained This Winter Break

The holiday season is an exciting time full of lights, love, being reunited with family and giving back. However, with winter break just around the corner and kids getting out of school, it can sometimes be stressful for parents to find ways to entertain their young children.

In addition to fun at Daytona Lagoon, as winter break approaches in Daytona Beach, we know just the thing to make this break the best yet and get you in the holiday spirit! Here are a few ideas for making your winter break one for the books.

Have Movie Nights

Planning movie nights are a great way to entertain the kids. You can either plan a family outing and see a movie in theaters or stay home and watch one. If you stay home, go all out with your movie night by making blanket forts, popcorn and hot cocoa. You can watch Christmas movies, family favorites or even introduce your kids to some of your old favorites. You can also use this idea on gloomy days.

Bake Christmas Cookies

A great way to entertain the kids and get in the holiday spirit is by baking cookies! Baking cookies can be an all-day activity, especially if you bake them from scratch. Get your kids involved in the whole process of baking, not just decorating! While it is a fun way to keep kids entertained, baking together also fosters connections and promotes family bonding. Baking also encourages skills such as reading, math, science and communication. Not only will you have a blast in the kitchen, but you will also be teaching your children essential skills they can use in years to come.

Explore Your Community

Nothing helps with getting into the holiday spirit and killing time, like participating in local holiday events. Find your local ice-skating rink, drive around and see light shows, take photos with Santa, attend winter wonderland festivals or even go Christmas shopping. You can even use this time to visit local attractions you might have yet to see. If you are in Central Florida, visit Daytona Lagoon this winter break. Daytona Lagoon has the largest variety of attractions in Volusia County. From a mega arcade, laser tag, go-karts and much more, there is an attraction for everyone to enjoy. If you have a family full of adventure seekers but don’t want to break the bank, then this is the place for you.

Now that winter break is covered, next is New Year’s Eve! Daytona Lagoon would like to invite you to our Noon Year’s Eve Party on Dec 31!
